Project´s Description
The campos rupestres is the term given to the vegetation that occurs over montain tops in central/southeast Brazil.  Vegetation of campos rupestres is exposed to an extended dry season and one of the most P-impoverished soils in the world. The Espinhaço Range is the core area of the campos rupestres, and it is a biodiversity hotspot. In those habitats, vegetation is expected to have developed efficient strategies to cope with harsh environmental conditions. The GCCRC aims to generate high-quality reference genomes for species of the most dominant families in the campos rupestres, and contribute to the identification of key DNA elements underlying the adaptation of these species to their limiting environments.
